Food cravings and food safety

You may notice some food cravings or aversions during this time as your body tries to prevent you from consuming perceived dangerous foods. Once you realize you're pregnant, there are foods you should avoid as they pose a risk to both you and the baby.

Certain food such as undercooked eggs and deli meats can cause food poisoning, which can be especially dangerous during pregnancy. You also need to avoid foods high in mercury such as certain types of fish.
