Reaching your due date
Although your due date is an estimated date, your placenta ages and can cause issues for baby's growth, fluid, and ability to handle the long length of labour. The placenta can also make moms sick with high blood pressure. If your cervix is not yet ready and there are no signs of labour, your care provider will talk to you about an induction. This prevents you from going much past your due date and can prevent stillbirth, which increases after term (37 weeks).
