Safe sleep during pregnancy
Going to sleep on your left or right side decreases back pain and increases blood flow to the baby. This is important in the third trimester. Pillows can be used to keep you in position. Don't worry if you do end up on your back for a short time. Most people change positions 9-10 times a night. Sleeping on your side helps to prevent stillbirth, although loss of a baby before birth can unfortunately happen due to other unknown reasons.
