Your 1-year-old may be starting to walk!

Encourage them by standing a few paces back and asking them to walk towards you or walk with them holding your hands and see if they can take a few steps without your support. There is no need for shoes before your baby is walking. Wearing shoes too soon may actually prevent your baby from being able to walk well. Allow your baby to learn to walk with bare feet on a flat surface and move to shoes when you are going outside.
