What is postpartum anxiety (PPA)?

What is PPA?

Postpartum anxiety is an anxiety disorder that affects as many as 15% of new birthing parents. It can feel like a loop of fear, intrusive thoughts, worry and stress. A moderate amount of worry and anxiety is very normal after having a baby, especially as a first time parent. Anxious thoughts that continuously interfere with the enjoyment of your baby are not.

Postpartum anxiety often includes parents who suffer from postpartum obsessive compulsive disorder and postpartum post-traumatic stress disorder.
